How to truely reset a laptop?

Hello all!

So I got a couple of old laptops lying around and they are filled with a bunch of bloatware, trash, and probably some viruses as well. I was wondering how can I really clean the laptops, clean as in get rid of EVERYTHING. I don't mind losing anything, I just want functional laptops.

Laptops
1. HP Pavilion DV6-6C29WM
2. Dell Inspiron N7010

Assuming not SSD's, DBAN
Wipe the drive.

Then, reinstall whichever OS's you have valid licenses for and are applicable to the system.

What do you mean by valid licenses? Do I have to buy windows? Also I don't have a disk drive for any system recovery or windows.

What OS came with the laptop? Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 can be downloaded from Microsoft.
