HP laptop dvd-rw not reading dvd9 discs

hi, my hp dvd is not reading any dvd9 discs but it reads dvd5 and cds. When i put dvd9 in the drive it makes noises for a little while. and nothing happens. my dvd model is:hp DVDRW DU8A5SHL. and btw its a laptop. please guys help me i just bought three favorite games and i want play them.

something breaks after seven months? yep thats definetly a HP computer. the only thing you could try is a lens cleaner because it may be dust on the lens. other than that time to call HP

i don't think its broken. it needs firmware or software update or something like that. can you help?

you can check hp's website to see if their is one but keep in mind dual-layer dvd9 type disks have been out close to 10 years now so a 6 month old pc should be able to read those types of disks without question

so the thing is only one works but others dont. the one dvd 9 gets so lag and when i try to open or copy something it hangs.

try copying all the files on the DVD to your hard drive and install it that way. create a folder on your desktop and copy all the files from the DVD to it. once the files are copied go into the folder and click on the install file

one worked, i played it too but all the other ones dont. i tried it on my pc and my friend's, my brother's and my uncle's, they dont work.
