HP15 Black Screen After Installing New Hard Drive..

So I just installed a new hard drive and now my laptop just has a black screen when I hit the power button. I have tried to swap the old hard drive but it does the same thing.

I checked all my connections and reseated the RAM and connectors but no luck.. I really hope I didn't fry anything..


I can get the display to work on an external display but not on the laptop itself... IS it possible I fried the screen or more likely a loose connection?

Well it could be the display just 'happened' to go at the same time as you made the change. Stranger things have happened. Or it could be just that the ribbon cable that connects it got jarred/knocked loose.

Have you tried disconnecting the ribbon cable and then reconnecting it?

That worked! I disconnected and reconnected the display ribbon cable. Thank you!
