Cablevision of Long Island made an offer that could not be refused, so I am
moving back from DirecTV. My question is can I still use my Hughes made
satellite DVR box, SDDVR40, once the cable is reinstalled? If the answer is
yes, how does it get it's TV listings, over the phone line or through the RF
input? Thanks.

Not for Tivoing cable broadcasts. It gets its listings over satellite.
At non satellite RF input is just a bypass.

Yes!
It makes rather spectacular paper weight.

Thanks for the (expected) info. I look forward to the blazing cable
download speeds of Cablevision. I will not miss the slothlike downloads of
Verizon DSL. I will really miss Turner Classic Movies (sniff, sniff).

Perhaps not in that system.

Exactly. Cablevision of (western) Long Island chose not to carry it to keep
their costs down, apparently.
