I have just shot footage of videos and I can view them on my camera. Right now I don't have my USB cord because it broke, and it took over 2 months for it to get here the last timeI ordered a new one. So I am using my sd card, and whenever I insert it into my laptop, I says the file is empty. They are on my camera but not my sd card. Do my videosgoto a seperate file on my camera, and if so can I put them on mySD card?

Solution
I see what you mean, the option is showing but not available for use.
Is the SD card you're using supported by the Handycam DCR-SX63? List of Sony SD cards that are supported can be found here: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=us&lang=en&mdl=DCR-SX63&cat=55
I'm sure other brands are fine as well. The largest capacity SD card supported is 32 GB or so it would appear.

List of supported Sony Memory Sticks: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=us&lang=en&mdl=DCR-SX63&cat=54
Again, I'm sure other brands work as well. Looks like a 32 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo is the maximum supported.

According to the manual memory cards up to 32 GB are guaranteed...
What OS are you using, Windows or Mac? Either way, what is giving you the message that the "file is empty"? Does you camera have any internal memory? Impossible to answer your last two questions, "Do my video go to a separate file on my camera? and "If yes, can I put them on my SD card?" without knowing the make (Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Nikon, etc.) and model number of the camera. If you will provide that information it will make it much easier for you to get the answer you need.

Instructions for moving videos from internal storage to the SD card can be found on page 22 of the User Guide.

Dubbing or copying movies and photos from the internal recording media to memory card (DCR-SR68/SR88/SX44/SX63)
1) Touch (MENU)
2)  [Show others]
3) [MOVIE DUB]/[PHOTO COPY] (under [EDIT] category), then follow the displays on the screen.

I see it, when ever I go to Photo Copy or Movvie Dub, the sekections aren't available. They are there, but instead o the white font and outline, it is a grayer font and outline. When I press on it, it makes a noise indicating they aren't availabe http://imgur.com/a/3pZhQ

Is the option to choose the recording media for pictures and videos available or is it greyed out as well? I only ask in case you want to record to the SD card in the future instead of internal memory.
