I do not have head phones. Why does my computer make a static noise? I was not listening to music at the time.

My friend was listening to my laptop computer, when she noticed it was making an unusual static noise. It has never made this type of noise before.

Noise from where? The speakers? You don't hear it only your friend? Need some details, can you tell where the sound is coming from?
