I found simply replacing my power cord fixed the same issue. Faulty cord?

2009 sharp 32" flat panel TV, flashing green power light. I replaced the cord, and works fin. In some cases I have seen where after a prolonged period of time, the cord may fray inside the casing.

I would say yes.

The power cords are made as cheaply as possible with little or no attention to quality via any meaning QA.

Defect in the wire conductor, defect in the plug, or some problem with the connectivity between the two. Defect may be on either end but possibly in one of the conductor wires in the cord itself.

Try the defective cord somewhere else. If the problem follows the cord then recycle the cord.
