If you can't connect the TV to the Sony system, then you would need to connect the source directly to that system, DVD player, cable box, whatever you have. If all you have is a headphone out on the TV then you would need to use that and just end up with stereo sound.

Without the model number we can't be sure what connections the TV has.
The Sony has an SPDIF optical audio input. If the TV has a SPDIF coax audio output then you need a converter.
The Sony also has analog audio input which can connect to a headphone output or analog audio output.
