I think I have a virus :(

This virus or trojan, i'm not really sure has infected my PC. It keeps displaying an update message for all my applications i'm using. I don't know how to proceed, I have virus scanned my PC three times and nothing has being done about it... I'm considering formatting my whole system and starting fresh.

If you can give any help, i would appreciate it.

I have been infected multiple times by trojans and malware etc... Depending on the severity of the threat, the actions you need to take may vary. I suggest using these free programs that I use all the time: https/www.safer-networking.org/ http/www.superantispyware.com/ https/www.malwarebytes.org/

What does the "update" message say? Where (if anywhere) or what (if anything) does the message direct you to do?

Best not to follow any such direction.....

Google the wording.

Have you recently installed any utility software or other applications? Could be that some 3rd party application was installed and only serves to "nag you".

Before going through all the work and risks of a reinstall try to learn more about the problem per se.

Start by checking out IisGamer's suggestion and then digging into it all a bit more on your own.

You may eventually end up formatting/reinstalling but you will also learn more in the interim....
