Hi,
Im looking into a new computer and the options im looking at are a bit different in cpus. One of them is an i7-4710hq and i have read some users say this cpu runs a bit hot on laptops. Is this true? They didn't specify the usage they were basing that on, but aside from gaming, for video and regular use, does it get that hot? I got worried because i did try a laptop with this cpu on a store and it was pretty hot without doing anything. For comparision, right now i have a i7.2630qm and i don't find it runs that hot for what i do

Also, this is soldered in the motherboard right? Meaning i can't reaply thermal paste in case i want to try and improve temperature?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard anything bad about this cpu as far as I am aware of and I think it is soldered on.

Well it depends on the build of the laptop. I have a i7-4810 MQ in an Alienware that has a big case and lots of breathing room. Now remember that is a processor designed for laptops. Graphics cards are more of a problem with heat. Like you said heat is directly proportional to how you use the system. If you game and overclock heat will be a bigger issue.

Being soldered has no effect on replacing the thermal paste, as it goes on the side facing up, not the pin side.
