Image or sound will not show on hdtv RCA when connected with HDMI cable to computer

I'm sorry, I probably could've worded the title differently and better.

But anyways
I recently got an hdtv RCA television in the past month. I also bought an HDMI cable.
When I try to Extend or Duplicate screens, nothing shows up.
(HDMI cable works on other devices like the WiiU and xbox 360)

Please help.

I just now tried that and nothing seems to work. I just checked both ends of the cables too and they're perfectly in, but my Tv still says no signal.
