Invest in a gaming laptop or desktop?

I'm currently a sophomore in high school and plan on going to the USAFA afterwards. I plan on getting a job this summer to pay for one or the other. Since I'm more concerned with keeping my grades high I won't be gaming as much as I wished (probably around once a week and days off) and after HS I have no idea how much time I'll be able to have to game. Should I build a PC or buy a laptop? (Budget will probably be around $800 for the parts and monitor/keyboard)

I enjoy playing easy to run games like CS:GO but I would also like to play games like BF1 and H1Z1 decently over 60FPS on at least medium settings.

Right now I have a MX300 525GB ssd and a Phanteks Enthoo Pro case basically just sitting around which is about a total of $200. Should I buy the remaining parts of the build for around $600 (maybe more to invest in better components) or sell them and still go for the Inspiron.

Install the MX300 in the Inspiron and just hold onto the case. You can use the 1TB they come with an put it in an external enclosure and use it as an external hard drive.
