What surprises me the most is the fact that whoever found it didn't bother to try and get in touch with the owner to give their phone back. Instead they took it apart to see what was inside?

Looks like the Apple hype machine is back at work. I'd venture to guess, like the others here, this was a organized leak to get the media in a frenzy again.

There will still be better Android phones when this comes out.

[citation][nom]Trueno07[/nom]Someone at apple just got a handful of Sith Lightning. But... But, if this this is a marketing ploy, it's truly genius.[/citation]

Don't you mean "it's completely obvious" and the people who "swallow it" are far from genius? 😉

Just checking ^^

couldn't they just power up the device and see if it contains OS 4.0?
no one to my knowledge has actually put the OS on a different phone...

As inclined as I am to think this person might lose their job... who the hell would be carrying this around at a BAR. Even if they were, and it was a stolen prototype.. who would know who did it? Obviously they could hire a detective but still, c'mon. It was DEFINITELY planted. For sure. Cool lookin phone though!

[citation][nom]eatmeimadanish[/nom]So... who just disassembles some poor guys phone[/citation]

Exactly, you find a phone in a bar, your options are:

a) leave it with the bartender, the owner will probably come right back

b) take it and try to find the owner yourself, there might be a reward

c) take it over to Engadget and have them tear the phone apart, furthering the stereotype that all Californians are a-holes

So it's been 4 generations an the iPhone still looks pretty much the same...
Just me or is it becoming obvious Apple is running out of ideas?

I mean, the original iPhone set a new standard for smartphones but all it has gained since is... 3G video calls, GPS, compass and minimal design changes?

The iPad just fuels the fire, they are making desperate attempts at staying on top at this point.

[citation][nom]buddhav1[/nom]meanwhile in other news, the Droid is still just hanging out being the superior smartphone.[/citation]

The iPhone was never about being the most superior phone on the market, and never WILL be.

It's about being the phone most people want to actually use on a day to day basis in terms of user experience, and Android still isn't touching the iPhone on this factor.

(And no, I don't particularly like Apple as a company).
