Is it possible to replace a 1/4in jack with a 3.5mm jack?

I recently went through some stuff and found a microphone with a 1/4 jack on the end, sadly I don't have an adapter but I do have a bunch of 3.5mm jacks laying around and I was wondering if I could just snip off the 1/4in and replace it with a 3.5mm cable. The mic only has one pole and ground so I believe it's mono. Any tips?

Nothing stopping you, it's just an electrical connection. While the 1/4 may have easy screws, a 3.5mm will most likely require a soldering iron.
