Is it possible to use a unlocked phone with an at&t service?

i just bought a unlocked phone to use with my service i already have but i can't get the phone to find the network

Yes, it is possible. The device on my third line was lost without insurance, so I swapped a SIM card into a AT&T prepaid device as a temporary replacement.

I assume you've already put the SIM card in...

It is possible like thadius said, but the question is WHAT kind of unlocked phone did you buy? You have to buy one that is a GSM phone.

It is definetly possible. It just depends if your phone is compatible with the network. Google your phones specs and compare them with AT&T's supported frequences. I would check with your local AT&T store if you are unsure.
