Hey guys, so I am looking to buy a new gaming laptop and I've come down to these two
Sager NP8130: 1200$
8gig ram
Nvidia GTX 460M
i7 (quad 2.00 ghz)
500g 7200 rpm
screen 15.6"
more details at http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8130-clevo-p151hm1-out-stock-eta-march-p-2973.html?wconfigure=yes
or a much cheaper laptop
Gateway ID49C13u: 850$
4gig ram
Nvidia GT 330M (switchable to internal)
i5 (2.53 ghz, I think its a dual)
500gig harddrive (I think 5400-7200 rpm)
screen 14"
more details at http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2371695,00.asp?tab=Specs
the question is" Is the sager worth the extra cost (about 350$)

Solution
The GTX 460M is still a better chip than the GT 540M. However, the Radeon Mobility 5870 in the MSI is slightly better than the GTX 460M. So if you want a ranking of the laptops it would go:
1. MSI GX660
2. Sager NP8130
3. Dell XPS

Sager's quality tend to be pretty good. The one biggest, constant gripe about them is that they use a non standard layout on the keyboards sometimes which some people find annoying. I've personally had my Sager for almost 4 years now and it's held up decently.
If your main concern is gaming then, IMO, the extra 350 is definitely worth it. The GTX 460M will run circles around the GT 330M. In GPU intensive games like Metro 2033 and Battlefield BC2, the 460M is able to pull double the frame rate of the 330M. Find the two on the list here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphic-Cards.13849.0.html

Just be aware that battery life on the Sager will probably top out around 2 hours. However, it is equipped with a quad core, faster HDD and a much higher resolution screen. All pluses in my opinion.

Lostandwander, thanks for your input. I've done a lot more research, and the first question I want to ask is, is the quality from a company like sager good? I've never heard of them before, so I have no idea how good their products are. Second, What do you think of the Nvidia 540M? I was looking into a Dell XPS 15, and it comes with that chip. I was comparing it to a Nvidia 460M, is there are large gap between them? is the Nvidia much better than the 460M? or are they similar in performace? I am looking between the sager notebook, the dell XPS 15/17, and a MSI GX660-260US (specs listed here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152231) let me know what you think
And if there is any other model you think is better, let me know. Thanks
