Question Is minor cosmetic damage normal on new laptops out of the box?

I recently bought a HP Omen 15 which has a deep scratch on the left edge of the laptop it is very small, barely 1 mm but it is deep and I can see the metal underneath the paint. I am very sure that I haven't caused it as I noticed it right after the unbox. Just to get myself cleared, I would like to know that is this sort of minor damage normally present in most of the new laptops or is it something not normal?

Is there any denting of the case? If not, I wouldn't be too concerned myself. I would have to say it is not "normal" however. Do you have any other reason to suspect you received a refurbished rather than a new machine?

No, there is no dent and neither I suspect that I had received a refurbished machine as the box was sealed and I opened it myself. I am just concerned that will this be covered by the company or they might just ignore it as it is very small and is there any way to fix this without causing any further damage?

Your call. You could send it back and wait to see what they do. I wouldn't bother for a little scratch. You would have to be without your machine for several days.
