Is this backlight bleeding acceptable

Since this laptop is new, I can exchange it. But I wanted to ask if this is good. Thanks for any help.

Yes. Computer was completely on. I put a black image to full screen. Brightness was around 50%.

It seems to look OK but you could RMA to be on the safe side, put it down to like 10% and see what it looks like and try 100%.

Backlight bleeding with 100% brightness doesn't look very good. Though, I should say that my camera exaggerates the bleeding effect.

I would say that in pictures, bleeding is exaggerated by around 20%. But still pretty good backlight bleeding. I think, I will go for RMA to be on the safer side.

Would you consider a 1000€ netbook enjoyable at all, every time the screen goes black you see this? Or seeing pictures, or just watching a movie with a format different to 16:9?

Not at all @rainbowten. Backlight bleed should be RMA'd, always. Manufacturers are greedy. They don't care about the consumer line, they care about their pro line of displays. Bleed is absolutely not exatterated, it's a matter of how much you're willing to take before going insane. Exatteration has absolutely nothing to do with this, at all. I've used most monitors on the market, and I've tested a lot of TV's. I know for a fact that 1/4 1/5 cost TV's, bigger screens, still have less consistency issues than smaller PC displays.

Remember to backup files, they will clean the drive before reselling. Ask to look at the displays in the store. I've done it, looks crazy, but for long term use, I really don't care, it has to be perfect.

Totally agree, makes no sense to not review it right there and come back with the same issue. If they refuse to do it, I will return it to them. I't is a shame i have to erase all and reconfigure it again :S

I have them cut open the boxes, no issues for me. Though some may have a problem with that, but it's technically still considered new, so they won't have to lower price and sell it used. A piece of tape isn't the end of the world. Hopefully it all works out for you.

Yes. I did the RMA thing. However, new one also has considerable amount of backlight bleeding. I was tired of returning and waiting, so I kept the new one.

Thank you, i returned it to the store. They didn't have stock so i bought a lenovo yoga isk-14 same specs pretty much and with 365 days subscription to Office. No bleediing whatsoever.
