JVC everio GZ-HD30 vs Sony HDR-CX240

Out of these two camcorders which one would you recommend?

Are you buying new or used? I only ask because those appear to be discontinued camcorders. I've only used one JVC Everio camcorder and I didn't like it but that's not to say that the one you mentioned isn't a good one. Between the two I would go with the Sony. Honestly though I'm not real fond of either since they record to Micro SD cards.

If you are looking for something in the $200 - $300 range then you might want to consider one of the following:
Panasonic HC-V250 Full HD Camcorder
Canon VIXIA HF R500 Full HD Camcorder
Canon VIXIA HF R600

Both are used but I can get a decent deal on either camcorder. I've been trying to look at sample test videos of the two on various websites but couldn't notice a large difference other than the Sony looking slightly sharper. Thank you for your reply I will have a look at the 3 you suggested.

Just out of curiosity have you decided on one yet? If yes, which one did you decide to purchase?

I went for the JVC Everio GZ-HD30 as after a trial with it I was happy with the quality and price.
