Keyboard and Mouse won\'t work at Vista login screen

My keyboard won't let me type in my password to use the computer. I was gone for a couple of weeks and didn't use. It was working before I left.

Have you tried unplugging and replugging the USB connections? in a different port?
If you've got wireless stuff, check the batteries.


The hardware is probably fine

Thank you for your reply. I didn't give enough information before. I have a Dell Studio laptop so I don't have usb connections. I can use the onscreen keyboard but when I try to type with the keyboard nothing happens. It is almost like someone pushed a key to disengage and now it needs to be pushed again. Only I don't know which key.
