Keyboard typing wrong characters.

This morning I had an issue with my desktop computer shutting off during log in. I wiped my hard drive to fix it, but it didn't fix a problem where my keyboard types wrong characters.

For instance, pressing caps will place a +. Pressing s types a 0.s, pressing E results in caps being on/off, backspace makes a hash mark, and SO MUCH more messed up with it. Rarely anything types right.

I've tried changing the languages around, and other fixes, but no effect.

My sister DID spill tea on it this morning, but it wasn't typing incorrectly until my computer shut off, and continued to shut off on its own during log in.

I have no idea what the hell is going on, if the log in issue was related, or what. Any help is appreciated.

the contacts under the keys are shorted, best bet new keyboard. if you feel like you can fix it you can take apart the keyboard and wipe the contact sheets clean. or (if you reinstalled windows I doubt it) your keyboard settings have been set to something other than qwerty (if you use that standard) just check the keyboard settings in the control panel.

After it was wiped, I changed the language from US English to UK English, and deleted US English. I'll try hooking the keyboard to another PC to see if it was the computer, or the keyboard.

It sounds like the keyboard layout has change to anything other than QWERTY, but since you said that pressing S will give you "0.s" I don't think the problem is somehow caused by Windows language settings.

Did you try to plug the keyboard onto any other USB ports on your computer?
