Laptop Component Transfer

Hey there! I have a question that's probably been asked 101 times but still. I have a laptop that is physically on its last legs, but still runs great. How difficult would it be to transfer all of the components to a new cover/case? Would it be best to build from scratch and reuse some of the hardware? Any help is appreciated, but I'm a newbie so please try to keep the lingo decipherable!

TIA

Laptops are pretty much custom designed, to fit the compenents the company wants in there and to dissipate the heat generated. They are not like standard desktop cases that you can swap components into and out of. Specifically, laptop motherboards are custom designed to fit into the case they are in, or vice versa. You can't take a motherboard and the components connected to it and move them into another laptop's case, unless it is the same or extremely similar model. They wouldn't fit properly, and the power requirements would be different also, depending on the components.

Just think "custom designed" versus "standard".
