Laptop GPU throttling when charging and battery under 90%

Hello,
I have a problem with my laptop. THe laptop is a Dell Precision M6600, 8gb of ram, i7 2720qm, Nvidia Quadro 3000M.
Basically the problem is this, whenever I am playing a game (such as Battlefield 4, Planetside 2 and older titles like Republic Commando), the GPU throttles horribly dropping my frames by quite a lot spontaneously. It happens every few seconds (every 5 seconds or so), lasts about a second or two. However, when the laptop reaches above 90% battery, it stops throttling and works fine until I try to play again with it under 90% battery. I am thinking it is possibly the battery that is problematic.
Any ideas?

What I have tried so far: disabling CPU C states, disabling hyperthreading, throttling CPU down, playing without the battery but with the laptop plugged in (this would work for about 5 minutes just fine and then suddenly the laptop would shut off), making sure the laptop is in high performance mode (which it is), checked heat and replaced thermal paste (heat for both CPU and GPU is at 64 and 67 C in full load.
Thank you,
Maxence

It's overheating. Charging the battery usually warms up the base of my computer, and the extra heat from that must push yours over the top.

You may need to go in and reapply thermal paste and/or pads. Clean the fans at a minimum.

Please read the full post, I have reapplied thermal paste and the GPU does not go above 64C full load. Also, why would it be overheating below 90% but not above 90% battery?

Ah, sorry, I read it but missed that.

What wattage charger are you using? Do you ever see anything about needing to connect a high performance adapter?

My Dell will throttle the CPU drastically if I use a 65W instead of a 90; my HP Elitebook will run at full speed, but not turbo boost, if a 90W is used instead of 125.

THe charger is 240W
