Keyboard acting up, rest of machine seems fine. Each key has a delay, not typical lag, have to wait till letter appears before typing next character. Any ideas?

Solution
The cost of the keyboard should not be bad, unless it's for a very high-end laptop. A technician's labor fee might be a bit much, but still cheaper than a new laptop.

Getting a new one or not is up to how you feel about it. I imagine that you can salvage the one you have for a fairly small expense.
Input delay is usually caused by overall system performance. If you're able to test with an external USB keyboard, please do. If you have the same problem with the external, your keyboard is not the problem. If you do not have the same issue with the external keyboard, then you may need to replace the laptop's internal keyboard.
