I'm sure similar questions have been asked but I just can't find the answer I'm looking for.

I'm waiting for delivery of a new laptop and as far as I can see the only suitable output from the laptop will be hdmi. (Although vga is available too.)

However my monitor doesn't have a hdmi, it only has: vga, dvi, and displayport.

What is the best cable/adaptor connection between the two, so that I can a) view photo's from my laptop on my monitor, b) play blu ray dvd movies and again watch them on the monitor.

My laptop is http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-photo-oc-mobile.html

and my monitor is http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=320-2807

Thanks for any replies.

Hi, you have two cables you can use, first a VGA to VGA, second a HDMI to HDMI with an adapter HDMI to DVI. The VGA to DVI-I won't work because your TV has a DVI-D port.

This is harder than I thought.........
What about this then? Looks good to me......
