Ok so, I was putting in a Bluetooth card and the screw slipped, saw a tiny spark and the computer shut off(Stupid me for having it on I know) Did I fry the motherboard? Or did a safety thing kick in?

I have a Gateway M-6846
I took it apart and found no fuses or burn marks
Also, where it sparked, next to the chip it hit, on the mb it says something about pci

Yes. About the fuses. What do they look like and where r they? R they replaceable??

The fuses are for the VGA port and the HDMI port if you have one, they protect the 5 volts rail for a short-circuit on those ports.
If one of them is burned you still will have the 5 volts on the rail, but one port will not function.
Can you measure voltages on the motherboard?

I cant. But what would be stopping the computer from powering on? did I fry the mb??

Actually tried that first. Re tried and still nothing. Not even a light...

Thats what i assumed at first but i had to check. Thanks for your help. Ill get another mb
Thanx again

Ok I haven't got around to getting a new mb. But I tried the laptop again and now the battery is charging and the power light blinks when pressing the power button. Just wondering if I still need to get a new one?
