Dear community, I’ve got a compaq C500 laptop, suddenly a week ago the screen left hinge
broke and the lcd flex cable underneath got damaged; after a couple of days, no more backlight on screen...
My question is: can a worn out lcd flex cable cause this to happen? Or the inverter only can cause that issue? Many thanks for reply.

Inverter should restore backlight, also when it comes to laptop screens which has a failed inverter one should see if it can be fixed rather than immediately going in for a new screen. It saves plenty of cash due to it being mostly a cheap easy fix. It may be possible to replace the flex cable as well which will still be cheaper than a new screen.
