You do not get a LEGAL subscription.......just a gray market
solution.(Also known as an activation with a false billing
address).Presumably you can find a way to receive your billings from the
US side of the border with a PO Box or some other such contrivance as a
private 3rd party mail box.

One doesn't. The C(ommunist)RTC has banned those outfits from operating,
and managed to get the cowardly bozos in Parliament to pass draconian
laws relating to subscribing to them (Dish and DTV). Canada, along with
such freedom-loving places as Cuba and Iraq and North Korea, prohibit
their citizens from watching foreign teevee.

This is all in the interests of protecting Canajun culture, an iota of
which I've yet to observe.

The CRTC motto: You don't have to be any good, you just have to be
Canadian. Or one of the Aspers.

Wrong. The CRTC has nothing to do with lobbying for Bill C-2 (which
doesn't really chane what is illegal, just stiffens the penalty,
amongst other things). If you want to blame somebody for lobbeying
Parliament, blame ExpressVu.

Wrong again. Canada openly permits foreign TV. If it is encrypted, it
has to be purchased from a licensed/aprroved seller/distributor,
that's all. Except Iraq now (you probably mean Iran), those other
regimes prohibit foreign TV to exclude religious, political, and/or
social ideals broadcast on capitalist TV.

No, it is under the guise of protecting Canadian culture, but is in
fact protecting Canadian buisness.

Aspers are Canadian anyway.

I live just outside of windsor and there is a dealer here who sets up
canajuns(hehe i love that)
with Dave - his ad says u need a new p4 or p5 card and that you can get
everything except PPV's
he's been a Dave dealer since the F card days so if you're willing to pay
(???) i guess it's worth it.

I'm like evryone else - i'll hold out for the P4 hack - in the meantime i
guess the yardwork will finally get done.

Even ordering by the website (something subscribers should do anyway,
with no phoneline connected to the receiver)? Through some proxy that
hides your location?

Yes but Dish and Direct TV aren't legal in Canada. The courts make no
distinction between paying for the service through a broker/US address or
not paying for the service. The original poster is asking about any legal
ways and the answer is a firm "no", there is no LEGAL way in Canada to get
Dish or DirectTV. Even if you pay for it, it is still illegal according to
the Canadian government.

It should also be noted that the Canadian government only goes after
those who are in the business to sell systems and offer programming
cards services and import them into the country. Those average
Canadians who have a system and go down the street to "Pirate
Satellite" (for example) and pay $50 to have them program your card w/
a 90 day guarantee, aren't the one's they go after.

Not yet anyway. Nothing in the law preventing them from doing so.
