Lenovo laptop won't charge

I have a Lenovo thinkpad 12 and it no longer charges properly. I plug in the charger and the outlet is fine but when I try to turn on my laptop it gives me the error message about critical battery. I have tried the take the battery out and hold down the power button for 20 seconds that I saw elsewhere on this forum but it did not work for me. Any other troubleshooting strategies I can try in order to fix it? I have had the laptop for 1.5 years now.

Figured out that the laptop will nharge for a few seconds when I first plug it in then the red charging light goes off. If I move the laptop around while plugged in the red charging light will sometimes blink as well

If moving it around makes it work and not work, then either the cord is damaged or the jack is.
