Hey guys, I am having a weird problem with my Lenovo Y510P, there's a LVDS cable which connects the motherboard to the lcd. When I disconnect this cable, the system boots perfectly and I can see the desktop when connected over hdmi to TV. However when I connect it back, the laptop doesnt even POST, no lights, no fans, nothing. I am unable to find the source of this problem, is it the LCD that's dead or some component on the motherboard? A short somewhere? Please help.

Well, first don't do anything that requires opening up the device unless it is no longer under warranty. To do so would void the warranty.

To check the ribbon cable, make sure it isn't disconnected, loose, bent, pinched, torn, or otherwise damaged. If that isn't the issue, then I would look at either the connection on the motherboard or the display itself. To be honest though, it being the display seems less likely, as they go all the time, and don't normally stop the computer from running.
It could be the connection on the motherboard, the ribbon cable connecting the display or the display itself. There is no way to say for certain without testing it on the device.
