They should be in NPS's Absolute Digital pack, starting Feb 1.

See Trackerlees forum at www.satforums.com

This is bad. More channels moving to the Absolute Digital package. Why is
this happening?

We should all write NPS a letter saying we want ala carte programming.

If you read NPS' website, you would see a statement that while they would
love to sell the channels ala carte they being TOLD by whoever that they
have to sell it the way they are!

Still,it wouldn't hurt if enough people let them know,so they could tell
whoever that the C band buying public want change!

Four channels of Lifetime showed up on the Lyngsat charts - supposedly
in the clear on Galaxy 12 (ie, what used to be Galaxy 5 at 125 W), tp
21, 4120 H, sr 29270, DVB. My Satcruiser found them, but there was no
audio!

When I looked at each channel it showed audio PID of 0000, but Lyngsat
showed specific audio values for each channel. I plugged those values
in and still no sound. Either something changed during the day or they
are in AC3 format.

Or perhaps it is in the process of being converted to subscription mode.

As for why they are going to be in the 4DTV digital package, it's
probably for the same reason that cable and all satellite services don't
have a la carte. It's because many channels couldn't stand on their own
financially, so the only way to keep them active is to make everyone pay
for them. A second reason for a la carte is that some channels - such
as sports - would be so expensive (due to passing along the outrageous
player salaries) for "true" subscribers that they have to lower that
cost by averaging it out across all subscribers.

ISTR Congress working up a bill to force a la carte. Anyone know
anything about it?

We should write NPS a letter thanking them for working to provide the

No one else cares one whit about c band..

I think that's for cable. Cable companies are complaining that making
cable a la carte would be too expensive.
