looking for free, good and trustworthy VPN

So I´m looking for a FREE VPN and I am willing to deal with quewes and "non premium service", because I have no extra spending money atm as a student.
I have done some research and found a programm called Cyber Ghost is it any good? or is it a virus? -jk

All free VPNs that I know of block all torrent downloading, if that's what you'll be using it for. They also gather your PC's information and sell it to third parties, after all they need to make money somehow... I've used Hotspot Shield before and it had very quick download speeds (7mbps I think?) for being a free service.

I want to use it to get access to british and american media that gets blocked in Germany like BBC Iplayer and stuff like that.
I´m not stealing software (ok not every torrent is pirated stuff)
but if it´s sending info about my PC wouldn´t my antivirus let me know?

No it wouldn't, the program scrapes up info like IP address, ISP, and all that good stuff. Also when signing up for a VPN, don't use real personal info for that reason. Ever heard of personalized ads? Well that's mostly what they do with info like that.

I'm against the idea of using free VPN service.

I personally subscribed to purevpn and it's so far so good however you can find more similar providers by looking for it in Google.

but tbh a webservice that targets ads at me... I´m kind of over that, every site does it.
The logging of my activities is slightley more worrying though -since thats what you want to avoid by using a VPN right?

-another question: does steam still lock peoples accounts for downloading using VPNs? (the only comments I can find about this are from 2010) there are sooo many cut games on the german store ...I realy hate german internet 🙁
