Low temperature photography

Hello,
I am going to be climbing Mt Everest and wonder what the best type of camera to take on the journey would be. I have heard that the temperature(into the -40 degree range) has an effect on the operation of cameras.

I think no much person is going to climb Mt Everest, but I add some links you can check out. But basic idea is that light weight digital cameras, keep warm for the camera/ battery, spare set of batteries, etc.
