Mac or windows

A friend is going to study video/image editing and 3d.
What's the better laptop for this? Windows or Mac?
Her budget is 1800€ so there are some mac's in range, I just don't know if a windows (with a much better performance for the same price) is better for this.

I would go with windows as many 3d applications don't have very good scaling for high res screen on the mac.
