I followed the instructions to return my mac to default settings, however it doesn't seem to work. I can't get the first page up after pressing cad and r. Can anyone help please?

So you are rebooting the MacBook and when you hear the chime you are holding Command and R?
There is also internet recovery, which is Command Option and R.
But this depends also on your operating system, which one do you have installed?
