I have been trying to help my friend with an issue and just short of nuking the HDD and having him just start over with a fresh format; I cannot think of anything else that I can do with his current issue.

The issue: When using his mic the volume is being forced to 0.
The (previous) solution: I told him to install Malwarebytes and run it, and it worked

The current state: he has run Malwarebytes many times and is issue is still prevailing.

I have told him to try deleting the drivers, he has tried some things he has found on forums.
I am out of ideas, I was hoping I could pick your brain for some new ideas.

He has told me he tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, and that has not fixed it, the only reason I call it a malware issue, is because from the reading online everyone seems to be calling it that, as well as malwarebytes fixed it before, unless it was just a band-aid and the issue never really left.
