Manual Format of acer

I have an acer eMachine E625 and it has a mager problem. it is my fault. I got a big virus that would not fully go away so I resorted to rebooting with the recovery disks and formating the hard drive. unfortunatly i have lost one of the boot disks and when I attempted the format it got to 78% but stoped because I didn't have recovery cd10. There was nothing I could do so I turned the computer off now its removed windows vista but when I try to install XP it says "windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" and it wont get to the point where I can do partitions or anything. Is there anything I can do or have I turned my laptop into a paper weight.

worked it out myself I ran the recovery in vista but used the XP cd and it worked and restored my computer to the factory settings.
