You guys are making you points. But never did I say anything contrary to what you are saying. Things is, are we talking about civil marriage here, or about religious marriage? Cause I live in Canada, and civil gay marriage is legal here since quite some time. What I am opposed to is religious gay marriage, if that's even possible.

[citation][nom]zoenphlux[/nom]The more you push this subject the more ppl will accept it. The more that accept it equates to less babies being born and raised. Therefore the less total amount of customers. No matter how much you dont like it or disagree with it. Homosexuals hurt the future of humans because they cant produce offspring. That will never change, heterosexual activity will ALWAYS have to happen to make a baby in some form or another(sperm donor?). As far as business goes it will hurt business in the long run from less ppl in the world to buy their stuff. Wont happen today or tomorrow, but it will happen the more wide spread it goes.[/citation]

You may want to have a look at world population statistics.
We are not running out of humans any time soon.

[citation][nom]n3ard3ath[/nom]Studies are flawed, there are many indicators that prove it is indeed a choice.[/citation]

I fail to see why it matters on wether or not it is a choice.
I'm not gay, but I strongly believe what two consenting people do in the privacy of their bedroom is nobodies business.

We are teaching the world how good our system of freedom of speech and expression is. But it seems a lot of folks like that grant this freedom only to those who comply with their view of what is moraly acceptable.
The Bible, everybody's favorite storybood, says homosexuality is wrong. Well, the Bible also says that sex outside of marriage is wrong. Hope you are married, and you both where virgins going in !

[citation][nom]sykozis[/nom]In the US, marriage has no link to religion. Of course, ignorant bible thumpers are always against EQUAL RIGHTS. This is the exact reason I think that religion should be banned. Religions do nothing but create mindless drones and start wars.[/citation]

Sorry, didn't see your post previously. Sure, organized religion should be banned. Faith and moral values should be kept alive though.

[citation][nom]PeterThePuffer[/nom]Most homosexuals want to marry for tax breaks and "married people's" benefits. I don't mind people getting some kind of break for civil unions but don't call it marriage.I'm glad I've never purchased anything more than a mouse from Microsoft, and thank God I live in Texas.[/citation]

Well, I lived in Dallas for 16 years and I got news for you ol' boy... there are plenty of gays and lesbians in Texas. Some of my best friends where gay and we still go to the Fort Worth Stockyards to enjoy a rodeo or shoot some stick whenever I happen to visit Big D.

Sure, you are absolutely right. It's just that it if it have nothing to do with religion it should be called civil union, not marriage, so there's no confusion. And I'm aware there's a big problem in USA where organized religion, mainly Christianity, is used for politic gains. I'm totally against those organizations cause they use the name of God for their own gains. Plus they are backing Israel Zionists against Palestinians, which I again am totally against.

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]Another reason I'm glad I live in the South. Will never see that crap here! Keep it out on the left coast.[/citation]

"Left" coast eh? If you are representative of people in the south, I'm glad I live on the WEST coast.

Anyway, I don't think Microsoft should of taken a stance on a political subject such as this simply because I don't think a company should influence politics that do not directly impact the company. However, maybe now that Microsoft has taken the stance, the state o' Washington will allow it.

What? You mean the anti-gay force field surrounding Texas went down?! We're going to have to quarantine Dallas/Fort Worth before the gay spreads!

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]what's so forward thinking about this? i think it's backward thinking....there is a reason for a penis and a peepee hole....1+1=3 not 2....if you don't get the math here is so me help....1= woman, the other 1 is for the man and 3 is for the result of hot sex[/citation]
Uh no the urethra canal is not for sex

Religion should not be banned. People have the right to believe what they want to believe, and worship any deity they wish to worship.

If it is your opinion that people who believe in something greater than themselves and worship God are unworthy of human rights, then you and I have a problem.

To deny people this basic human right, one that our forefathers gave their lives to protect, because you don't happen to agree with it, makes you no better than the people you wish to deny gays the right to marry.

To you, this isn't about gay marriage or human rights. This is about your own personal war against christians; you don't care about gay people.

So take your hate elsewhere.

As a gay person, I don't need people like you fighting for me.

Organized religion should not be banned. People who trick others into giving them their money in the name of God should be (and thrown in jail).

People have the right to organize according to the constitution - freedom of assembly.

People have the right to worship whatever god they so choose - freedom of religion.

Don't try to find a middle ground with an atheist like that one. They are the most selfish, hateful, uncompromising people you will ever meet, friend.

[citation][nom]hoofhearted[/nom]Judging from the thumbs up/down patterns, Toms seems to have a majority gay following[/citation]

It's not so much that, it's just that some people make a habit to to thumbs up and thumbs down certain posts, whereas other people don't.

Christians usually don't bother. Atheists do.

Your whole point gets completely lost when you generalize all atheists. You don't want to be put in with religious fanatics, why would you lump all atheists together as the same type of person?

You don't have to be gay to support gays, or for that matter support equal rights and separation of Church and State. Quite often the people who are most against homosexuality feel that way because of their own repressed desires, so if anything being homophobic is the most gay thing you can do.

Or maybe Tom's readers are from the LEFT COAST.

FWIW, I agree.

That is why I was careful to say "...like that one..."

The emphasis was not on atheist, as in, "atheist, like this one is", but rather, the type of atheist this one is.

Just as christians have their poor representatives, atheists (or any other group, for that matter), have bad people in their midst, as well.

I do admit I could have worded it better.

That was a good one.

It really just boils down to one simple thing, folks...

If marriage is not a religious institution, then why should the religious seek to deny the gay and lesbian community the right to it?

If marriage is in fact a religious institution, then by denying the gay and lesbian community the right to marry, you are in fact violating their constitutional right to freedom of religion.

So either way, it makes no sense.

[citation][nom]n3ard3ath[/nom]Sure, organized religion should be banned. Faith and moral values should be kept alive though.[/citation]
Firstly, why should organised religion be banned? Are we substituting it with gay marriage? I thought this was all about equal rights, so if we're adding rights to one group and removing different rights from another, we're back at square one.

Secondly, organised religion is closely connected to faith, at least for Christianity (I cannot speak for other religions as I don't have enough knowledge of them). If one ignores chunks of the Bible which encourage assembling together, then sure, one can have faith in bits and pieces of their religious text without organised religion.

You don't need arguments for allowing gay marriage, the lack of arguments against it should be enough to give people this freedom.

If even Glenn Beck can say (about gay marriage)

"I believe that Thomas Jefferson said: "If it neither breaks my leg nor picks my pocket what difference is it to me?" "

than what the hell is your problem if you are against gay marriage?

Anyway, Microsoft didn't have to do this, they really wouldn't lose a penny if they hadn't come out with this, so even if they're only doing it for their image, they deserve to get a better image because of this.
