Question from jackjohnson17 : "Sennheiser Gaming one vs HD 598 vs beyerdynamics dt990"
jackjohnson17 :
Like the title says I've narrowed my headphone/headset purchase to Sennheiser Gaming one vs HD 598 vs beyerdynamics dt990. All appear to have great audio quality, over ear, open ear designed and are very comfortable. I have a Yeti blue mice w/ boom arm and pop filter so I don't really need the mic on the Gaming one but if there is no audible difference between the Game one and HD 598 it's only a $20 difference. Which would you pick of the 3? Are there any that I missed with great audio quality, over ear, open ear designed and are very comfortable?
Thanks,
Jack
I can tell you this, I went with Sennheiser 598s and sold my Astro A40s, and have never once regretted it. The audio quality, for listening to music, will absolutely blow you away. My grandfather, who swore off audiophile headphones in his 30s due to hearing damage, considered my 598s to be so much better than anything he'd ever heard that he considered buying a pair again.
When it comes to gaming, the soundstage on the 598s is so large that it legitimately feels like you're cheating. It's insane. They're also very light headphones and very, very comfortable - I can wear them for 8 hour gaming sessions and not even notice them at the end of the night. They're also surprisingly cool - I was expecting the velvety material to run hot, but they keep my ears so much cooler than leather pads do. (And hey, the color scheme matches your Noctua fans! That's the sign of a true audiophile. ;p )
I would definitely take the 598s over the Gaming Ones, but I don't have any experience with the dt990s. I'm sure that they're very nice; beyer dynamics makes very good quality headphones... but after a lot of research, I went with the Sennheisers and am glad that I did.
