My asus keyboard cannot type at all?

I have tried to get my daughter's Asus keyboard to work. She came home from school one day and tried to type, but nothing would work. When she logs on, she has to go to her account, then come back to our's. And voila! The keyboard works. But when we try and type on explorer, NOTHING works. If you have answers, please share with us, it'd be super helpful... It'd be helpful because my daughter thinks that we all think that Minecraft is a virus, so she deleted it from the taskbar & files...
