What is the laptop model and what is the projector model. There are many Elite Books as well as many "mini projectors" so no way to know what you need to connect them.

I think what OP was getting at is he has a DisplayPort on laptop.

I have an HP 8470. The port I thought was for an HDMI cable isn't that kind of port. It actually haas a straight edge on one side so the cable I bought doesn't fit. The mini LED projector is yellow and white. It's a really cheap one I saw on an ad. TY!

Buy a cheap display port to HDMI converter that should do it...
