I have a Dell Vostro 5470 laptop. For a while this was bugging me and making me impossible to use it: if I move it or touch on the right side, it stops working. It varies on random BSODs, screen "sparkling", frozen screen or just reboot out of the blue. Sometimes it doesn't even turn on (the 3 leds goes up and nothing happens).

I've changed RAM and HDD and this still persists. It happens randomly and its hard to diagnose and show to people. Some people bet the BGA went bust and it went FUBAR.

What can I do?

sorry from digging this topic from the grave, but I noticed something on my laptop. the screws from the base are loose and sometimes they got out on my backpack. a few people advised that this specific laptop cannot be powered on without the screws. does this make sense?

well, for me it gaves BSOD related to RAM. a few days behind I was using it and out of the blue (I wasn't even touching it) it crashed. I gave to my girlfriend so she can use it for a while and for her nothing happened when using (with no loose screws btw).

just for the sake of it I'm replacing the case screws to see how it goes but my guess (and everyone I asked) is that the motherboard has gone to hell and its trash
