Im looking for a laptop mainly for everyday use, thin and light, but that can handle some gaming. I have a few options but I would appreciate fresh suggestions, I am open to a laptop running ubuntu if it is worth the performance drop.

The main things I'm looking for are portability, performance, then screen quality.

I have a budget of roughly 600euro. Thanks in advance! :D

Im only looking for light gaming such as source games, do you think the HP Pavilion 15-ab271sa is a good choice?

Yeah, it's not bad. It better than most laptops with Intel HD graphics.

The Core i3-5157u is clocked at 2.5GHz is is almost as high as most "u" model Core i5 CPUs. The Intel Iris Graphics 6100 is more powerful than the typical Intel HD 5500 graphics core you would find in other 5th generation Broadwell "u" model CPUs.

Since I live in the US, I don't know if you can buy a laptop with a modest GPU for 600 Euros.

It seems there is only a single 8GB stick of RAM in that HP laptop.

Assuming there is an empty slot to install another stick of RAM, you should install another stick of RAM (4GB / 8GB) so that the RAM will be running in dual channel mode (full speed) rather than single channel mode (half speed). Integrated graphics generally performs 5% - 10% better when the RAM is operating in dual channel mode depending on the game.

you do realise that if u take this laptop you will be stuck with it for atleast 3 years .....why not take something better and make it last for 4 5 yrss...but if u want for basic games then u may take it ...but forget about titles like black ops, advanced warfare, farcry, mgsV, fc etc etc
