If the cable box has an HDMI output, you should use that to connect to your Element HDTV. Be sure to change the TV's input to HDMI1, HDMI2, or HDMI3 (depending on which port you plugged the cable box into).
As mentioned, the DVD player has both component and composite (AV) outputs. You could use either; depending on the port(s) used by the set top box.
Ideally, you would use an HDMI connection to connect the set top box to the Element TV. You would then use the component connections (Red, Blue, Green video/Red, White audio) for the DVD player.
If your set top box does NOT have an HDMI output, then you'll need to jury-rig something together. The problem with this situation is that the Red Component Video port is shared with the Yellow Composite video port. You would need to try to connect both to the port at the same time using something
like this.
The yellow cable from your DVD player would connect to the white port of the linked cable and the red cable from your cable box would connect to the red port of the linked cable. The male end of the linked cable would connect to the "Video/Y" port of the Element TV.
NOTE - In NO WAY do I guarantee this will work!
Again, the best way would be to use HDMI and component cables, but this latter solution
MIGHT work if need be.
