Need video camera with 1) stereo line input, and 2) ability to stream into iMovie

The title says it all. I need help!

I record synthesizer demonstration videos. I currently use an old Sony camcorder (non-HD). I run the stereo output of my keyboard audio mixer and the camcorder video output into a older Canopus AVDC-100 firewire converter box. The Canopus box is plugged into my new iMac, using a firewire to lightning converter. I record directly into iMovie, so that I can easily start/stop recording with my mouse, and not have to import anything. I can immediately record/play back clips right on my computer.

Anyhow, I want to upgrade to an HD camera. I am open to suggestions, but it looks like I need to plug my stereo keyboard audio feed directly into a camera, that ideally will have a volume meter and a way to adjust input volume. Then, I need to stream the audio and video out of the camera (via HDMI?) directly into my iMac. I am not sure that the Elgato Game Capture device will work for me, because I have not read anything that indicates that the Elgato device will stream into iMovie, or anything or than its own recording software.

So I need help from knowledgeable folks. Everything is so easy, the way I have it now, but I seriously need help here so that I can upgrade to HD without spending a lot of money.

So you are 100% certain that this camera will stream directly into my iMac's iMovie program? Do you know what kind of cable would be need? Is any other device needed to do this? Thank you.

You'd need to look at the camera specs to find the plug. But I'd expect that it'd be a 3.5mm stero plug.

And you'd have to look into the specs for iMovies to see how to import the streamed video.

I have a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and can test it tomorrow to see if it works with iMovie and post the results after testing.
I don't know what I was thinking, the video is out only on the Thunderbolt port.
