Hi, I'm new to these forums and new to LaserDisc. I have a few LD's of my favourite movies but right now they're just for display on my shelf. lol I love those huge covers.

I want to purchase a LaserDisc player in the next couple of months but I'm not sure which is the best to get. Multi region is a must and I want at least mid range picture/sound quality.

Can anyone recommend some good players?

I would start here if you want a general run down of what kind of player to buy.

And this is a good place to look up specs and pictures of players.

Laserdisc players are not region coded. You probably mean you want a PAL/NTSC player. None of these are great players. When it comes to laserdisc you probably just want a ntsc player unless for some reason PAL is necessary.

Laser disk is a Cool format- many people say better sound and picture quality than the present day DVD. You can buy movie titles cheap from used second hand dealers.
Remember that the Laserdisk is an obsolete format. Frequently these old players will need cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, rubber belt replacement. There are no new parts available.
If you have the tools, technical know how and patience to maintain one it can be a fun hobby.
But keep in mind that when you buy one, it may need service or parts replacement, and quite often will need all of the above. For the person who just wants to watch movies, get a DVD player instead.
