Solved! Nikon Coolpix sd card error

My new to me, used nikon coolpix camera is showing sd card errors. Ive tried different cards & tried formatting them all. They work in my other cameras. The coolpix shows me a message "This card cannot be used" And one odd thing is the menu completely skips over the format from camera option. Its there & I can see it, but unable to select the item from the menu. Does this mean the sd card slot is broken? If its not, how can I fix this?

What is the exact model number of your camera? Could be a specific compatibility issue. There may also be a firmware update to address such issues. Need to know a bit more to assess options.

In previous cameras, I've had success like this:

Contact cleaner on the SD card.
In/Out/In/Out/In/Out/....several times.

This will maybe clean the contacts in the camera.

Hi sorry I forgot to mention that. it is a nikon coolpix 5900. I actually just bought ANOTHER nikon coolpix 5900 and THIS sd card slot is messed up as well!? Im at a loss!! All my cards work in my other cameras but not the nikon coolpix. Ive tried sdhc and sdxc.
