As title says. Sound shows as mute. Cannot undo or change with keyboard. In control panel no sound devices show up. In device manager Realtek HD audio is missing. Have tried to download the driver separately but I just get "Sony Packaging Manager extracting" then nothing come up after. In dxdiag it says no sound card found.
I am using a Sony Vaio SVF1531C5E. Windows 8 64 bit.
If theres nothing in device manager thats a sound card or an unknown device then the soundcard is either turned off (this is not common) or broken.
If you DO have an unknown device, be sure you are loading the proper drivers: http/www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/EP0000316626_9253/SVF1531C5E
No unknown device. I just found the show hidden devices option and the Realtek HD audio does show up under it. The device status is "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)"
