No, the difference is you seem to be willing to consider pros and cons.
There's no problem with disagreeing or subjectively considering one
product over another, I think you'll find that this group encourages,
not discourages that. What is *discouraged* is blind criticism of
nearly every thread, and telling everyone that they are idiots for
paying for a product they prefer. There's a difference, and certain
posters are definitely in the latter area.

Well, that's great. You have reached a legitimate opinion, even though
many folks on this group may disagree with. That doesn't make you
wrong, and nobody should do anything but respectfully disagree with you
(or agree, as the case may be). In the long run I would expect that
you'd replace your Series 1 with something you clearly like better, and
then probably lose interest in this group since it doesn't really
address your interests. Unless you had some sort of personal ax to
grind, or you like to flamebait.

I would have to heartily disagree with you. Honest debate is encouraged
here, it's what makes it interesting. It's presenting a point or
argument without using logic or facts that's disliked.
I think we can agree that the facts are that many non-Tivo DVR's have
superior hardware features compared to the current SA Tivos. I think we
can also agree that *most* people think the Tivo software is far better
than the non-Tivo DVR's (despite what 1 poster may continuously assert).
Which is more important? That's subjective and up to the end-user.
But it's certainly open for debate!
