notebook lvds connected to dvi i display?

It happens that a notebook's display breaks. Then you have a working computer with no display. Notebooks use a lvds connector for the built in display? I have found some lvds dvi adapters. Their price make them not an economical solution. There are no low priced solutions for connecting the notebook's display connector to an eksternal display? Or lowcost displays you can connect to the notebook? Thank you.
 
I don't have a problem - - my laptop has a standard D-Sub port for an external monitor, plus an HDMI port.
Connecting an external monitor couldn't be easier.

Some laptops don't have an external monitor port - - cost-cutting I guess - - so you need to be careful in your choice of laptop if that feature is important to you - - check the specs carefully before choosing.

The notebook in question has vga. When there is no built in display, then on linux distros, setting the external display as launcher display is a task.
